How to Commission an Original Oil Painting
I create original oil paintings inspired by gardens, landscapes, cherished places, and the colors and rhythms of the natural world. A commission begins with conversation and evolves into a unique, custom painting—layered, tactile, and alive with color—made to bring lasting presence to your home.
I work from your photographs, stories, favorite color palettes, and sense of place, while retaining artistic discretion over the final composition, scale, color, and painterly interpretation.

Send me a note with your idea, preferred size, deadline if applicable, and a few photographs or visual references.We discuss the painting
We will talk about subject, format, mood, palette, placement, and budget. I can recommend a size and orientation based on your space and the source material.Proposal and deposit
Once we agree on the direction, I will provide a written proposal with the price, dimensions, expected completion window, and shipping or delivery details. A nonrefundable deposit of [50%] reserves your place on my commission schedule.Creation
I begin the painting. Depending on your preference, I can share one or two progress images at key stages.Approval and delivery
The remaining balance is due when the painting is complete, before shipment or delivery. Your finished original will be carefully packed and shipped, or local delivery/pickup can be arranged.

Other things to consider…
One modest adjustment may be possible during the planning or early-painting stage; substantial changes after work begins may require an additional fee.
Because each commissioned painting is made specifically for you, completed commissions are generally nonreturnable.
Copyright remains with artist. The buyer owns the original artwork but may not reproduce it commercially without written permission.
I may photograph the finished painting for my portfolio, website, social media, and promotional material unless we agree otherwise in writing.
